The book of Japanese Catholic History [22] notes: Cat that’s what i do i read books i drink tea and I know things poster. The flourishing trade relationship with Dang Trong was the origin of the Japanese settlement here. In January 1615, missionaries from Macao arrived in Dang Trong (Da Nang and Hoi An) on a mission to care for Japanese Catholics. Initially, although the government was quite opposed to the new religion, because of the benefits of trade with Japan and Portugal, the Lord of Dang Trong also relaxed. New indigenous people as well as Japanese are still baptized. Pastoral reports in 1621 stated that in that year, there were 82 natives and 27 Japanese received baptism.
